M’A BAI KAS BIN
M’A BAI KAS BIN (“I’m going home and will return”) is a cultural and artistic exchange between the Netherlands and Curaçao focused on the theme of “home.” Stichting Bühnenbiest develops an interactive performance and workshop series for primary and secondary school students. A key element of Bühnenbiest’s methodology is using dance and music as a means to engage children in conversations about various themes. Most Curaçaoans are descendants of Africans who were forced to leave their homes and create a new home on Curaçao. For this reason, the theme of “home” holds an even deeper significance on the island. Through this project, Bühnenbiest explores with the children what connects them to one another and what elements are important in feeling at home.
In addition to the program for children, there is also a program for teachers. Bühnenbiest shares the project findings with them and develops tools together with the teachers to help implement the program.
