Future Village

“A new festival where you can create large artworks together, meet lots of new people, and make new friends.” This was the wish of young people aged 12–18, in response to the question of which new cultural activities could be developed for youth.

In the spring and summer of 2025, the second edition of Future Village will take place: the Art-Building Village of the Future, a multidisciplinary art community for young people aged 12–18. Over a six-month period, hundreds of young participants across the Netherlands will work on extraordinary artworks at various locations.

Future Village is a creative youth project where we build a future full of imagination, talent development, and connection. It offers young people a stage and a safe space to be themselves, learn from each other, and make an impact. During the project, participants will collaboratively design and create artworks in a unique outdoor setting, guided by artists, designers, and coaches who challenge them to shape their own ideas. They will learn to collaborate, present, handle feedback, and gain insight into the world of art and creative projects. In addition, there will be inspiring workshops, group sessions, and shared moments focused on connection, fun, and personal growth. The result? A unique Future Village fully designed by young people, open for the public to visit.

On September 6 & 7, 2025, the gates of Future Village will open for the first time after months of building. This free festival is aimed at young people, but everyone is welcome to see what has been created over five months. Expect a mix of performances, art, and food. For thousands of participants, this will be their first festival experience. In collaboration with Poppodium FLUOR, Future Village will host special concerts on both evenings at the same location: Diggy Dex (Sept 6) and FLEMMING (Sept 7).

Future Village 2025 is a collaboration with Kultlab, known for festivals such as Wildeburg, Into the Woods, and Lepeltje Lepeltje. Other partners include Art-S-Cool (The Hague) and Fabriek van Niek.
