Future Matters Hackathon

Waag Futurelab is organizing the “Future Matters Hackathon”, where vocational (MBO) students will explore the question: “How can digital media contribute to an empathetic future in which young people feel ownership over their digital environment?” During this two-day hackathon, MBO students will collaborate with artists and developers to develop ideas and prototypes.

Young people spend an average of 6.5 hours per day in an online bubble, where polarization and misinformation are the norm. Only by putting young people themselves at the design table of social media can we create a safe, fair, and empathetic digital space.
The hackathon will take place in autumn 2025 – stay tuned!
